second title

Thanks to the introduction of E-Mountain Bikes, (pedal- assisted), this has now become an activity us old timers can partake. These bikes take the "grunt" out of climbing the hills and going the distance, making it a relaxing, enjoyable ride.

December 15, 2017 - Dike ride to Minnekhada Park

One of our favorite rides, going on the dike along side the Pitt River, going to  Minnekhada Park .
(No bikes are allowed in the Park itself), but the dike ride is beautiful, lots to see... turtles, blue herons, ducks and especially Black Bears. Rick is usually rides out front, which is a good thing, as he has the super super loud  AirZound Bicycle Horn..... mounted on his bike. The horn proved to work extremely well in scaring away the bears.

The dike is a great beginner ride.... gravel, flat, with a few resting benches along the way.

There is a parking area (marked in yellow below) to unload your bikes at the beginning of ride... off Cedar Drive...

less than one hour ride (marked in red)

All three of us on regular mountain bikes
