second title

Thanks to the introduction of E-Mountain Bikes, (pedal- assisted), this has now become an activity us old timers can partake. These bikes take the "grunt" out of climbing the hills and going the distance, making it a relaxing, enjoyable ride.

.

Where to ride?

 Our basic "playground" area:

located in the south-west corner of British Columbia, Canada,
The Fraser Valley. In addition, we have begun to adventured out into other areas of British Columbia.

This map shows the areas that have mountain bike trails in the Fraser Valley area (from Trailforks website)

This is one of our favourite ride, along the Coquitlam River (POCO trail), into Colony Farms, then back using the Pitt River Dike.

Another ride, but encompassing a ride to Pitt Meadows Airport

This is one of our standard ride... up to David Ave, along the Coquitlam River, then back down the other side (POCO Trail)
Other great areas:

Our ski resorts in British Columbia are slowly adding mountain bike parks, special designed chair lifts and trails to their mountains. Providing an additional revenue to their facilities)... opening up entirely new recreational areas for the young and us old-timers.

However, I personally feel that the resorts are NOT seeing their potential in catering to the retired baby boomers... we have the all time & money to spend... just no where to go locally. With the introduction of "E-Mountain" bikes, we retired people are now capable of riding in the mountains. I would highly recommend that the resorts look into the development of "groomed" bike trails, going in areas to show off all the mountain has to offer. I'm sure their hotels, pubs, rentals, tour guides, etc. would be a lot more busier than presently.

Resorts that we have tried out...

Whistler Resort... OK mountain, bike park, lots of trails, but NOT designed for us retirees

Sun Peaks Resort...a better mountain, nice trails, bike park, single track, great accommodations

Silver Star Resort... great mountain, nice trails, Poor trail markings
